Not Another New Year New You!

“Every year you make a resolution to change yourself. This year make a resolution to be yourself” – Author unknown. Our advice: Be unapologetically you in 2024!

Are you tired of all the 'New Year, New You' hype? Bored with the same old resolutions talk? Keep reading!

What if you were to make 2024 your time to shine and be the star of your own life? The first step? Cultivating that healthy glow, and guess what? We're here to help.

Our approach to achieving your fitness goals is straightforward and no-nonsense. We genuinely believe that good health looks fantastic on you.

We've been around for quite a while and have heard every excuse that might be holding you back.

Let's explore the three most common ones. Be honest with yourself—have you fallen for any of these stories?

3 Common Excuses Holding You Back; Which Story Have You Told Yourself?

EXCUSE 1:
I Don’t Have Time:” Do you truly not have time, or is it more accurate to say, that it's simply not a priority for you currently?

Try swapping “I don’t have time” to “Exercise and taking care of my fitness is just not a priority for me right now”. How does that feel?

How We Help: Our semi-private personal training sessions are 45 minutes long and being appointment based, you simply need to book yourself in and show up. We’ll take care of the rest for you. From morning to evening, we have more than 10 session times available a day.

EXCUSE 2:
“I’m not fit enough or experienced enough:”
Saying you’re not fit enough to start exercising, is like claiming your house isn’t clean enough to start cleaning, or your fridge is too empty to buy groceries.

How We Help: Lack of experience means you don’t need to unlearn any bad movement patterns. Now is the perfect time to begin – consider yourself a beautiful blank canvas ready for transformation!

Leave the programming and exercise coaching to us to ensure that you learn correctly from the start and are on your way to becoming fitter and injury free.

EXCUSE 3:
I’m scared of lifting weights and don’t know how:” It can be a bit intimidating to start with. We get it.

How We Help: We’ve worked hard to create what we call a “gymtimidation free space”. No judgement, just care and putting you first.  Firstly, we ensure that you can move pain free, especially if you’re dealing with an injury. Then, we work on your technique, teaching you how to engage the right muscles without overloading your joints or risking injury. Finally, we gradually increase your lifting load as you become more capable, confident, and stronger. We know that Rome wasn’t built in a day.

And, just so you know; body weight exercises also count as strength training.

Don’t let these common myths hold you back. We’re here to support your fitness every step of the way; no matter what size step.

Feeling Pumped; Not Sure Where to Start?  (p.s. Step 5 is the clincher, so read to the end)

1.        Set a Clear Goal:  Be realistic about what you want to achieve. Use the SMART goal system for precision – like aiming to lose 5kgs over the next 3 months or run 5kms in 6 months.

2.      List Your Habits: Jot down habits that align with your goal. Whether it is exercising twice a week, hitting your 10,000 daily steps, or eating more veggies. Big or small, be bold and put it in writing. Struggling? We’re here to help you.

3.      Rank from Easy to Hard:  Organise your habits from the easiest to the most challenging to do.

4.      Start Small. Win Big:  Tackle the easiest habit first. It’s a quick win proving you can conquer challenges. That momentum will drive you forward, winning big. Keep ticking those habits off – you’ll have a blast!

5.      Ditch the goal?  You heard right. Counterintuitive we know, but very effective. Forget about the big goal, instead, focus on nailing those habits. Quick results often elude us, but consistency is the real game-changer. Remember, we tend to overestimate our ability to achieve things in two months but underestimate our capacity to succeed in twelve. Stay consistent and enjoy the journey!
